Our Mission: Enhancing the Quality of Senior Citizens’ Lifestyles
Empowered, Healthy and Active Senior Communities
Created in 2013, Vista Silver Star Foundation (VSSF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that partners with senior communities in Vista and San Diego County and fundraises for special projects benefiting those communities.
VSSF believes people involved in social activities have better health, more fun, a longer life span, a curiosity to discover new things, and a thirst for learning something new, which increases brain cells as an added benefit.
The Foundation promotes socialization through games that involve mental stimulation, social dancing, problem solving activities, and programs assisting elders. VSSF encourages people to exercise, practice kindness, learn social networking, and get involved in education, nutrition, recreation and service opportunities.
We welcome new members, volunteers, and your donations.
Projects Initiated by Silver Star
Vista Silver Star Foundation takes on projects that support our mission of benefiting seniors. Here are a couple of examples:
Nutrition: Purchased and installed a patio planter box at Gloria McClellan Senior Center to grow herbs and goodies for the chefs to add to the lunch meals offered by the Center.
Exercise and Socialization: Organized, purchased supplies, and provided bocce classes at the Senior Center. Bocce is a bowling game that originated in Italy.
Exercise Equipment: Bought exercise chairs for the Senior Center gym.
Activities: Produced knitting supplies for the Knitting Club at the Senior Center.
Staying informed: Purchased a TV that will display upcoming events and activities at Vista’s Senior Center.
Upcoming projects include a mahjong tournament, a paint-and-pour activity, and fundraising events.
Ongoing Classes at Gloria McClellan Senior Center
Bocce Ball Lessons and Games meets every Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30 am to 11:30 am in Brengle Terrace Park located in North County San Diego, California. The bocce ball court is just next to the Vista Botanical Garden. It’s free.
Mahjong Games are held every Tuesday and Thursday from 1 PM – 3PM. Free lessons.
Both of these classes are supported by VSSF members.

Membership
Vista Silver Star Foundation welcomes new members. It’s free to join. The primary benefit is the satisfaction of contributing your time and energy to helping seniors become more involved in their communities.
The friendships you’ll gain working with the VSSF team will enrich your life. Plus, when assisting with fundraising, you’ll gain complimentary access to a number of events in and around Vista, such as the Alta Vista Botanical Gardens Fall Fun Festival and more.
